Our Shared Forest – creating a new future for the Forest of Dean
Friday 5 October 2018 – 10am to 4pm – Speech House Hotel
Following on from the last Forest Forum, held in February this year, where I presented the outline of a new strategic approach to forest planning in the Forest of Dean, we are now launching Our Shared Forest.
Our Shared Forest is your opportunity to develop an ambitious long-term vision for the Forest’s future, setting out new approaches to forestry and land management.
It will also include agreeing the key principles to be adopted around managing soils and geology, water, woodlands and forestry, open habitats, cultural and built heritage that will help us move towards our long term vision.
As well as the opportunity to share your ideas and thoughts, part of the day will also involve site visits to look at some of the practicalities of land management and forestry, and some of the bigger picture issues and ideas we may want to consider going forward.
Further details on the agenda for the day will be released nearer to the date.
Please could you advise if you are
able to attend this free event before Friday 21 September 2018 by emailing dawn.thompson@forestryengland.
Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided so please also advise if you have any special dietary requirements.
This will not be the only opportunity to engage with Our Shared Forest, so please do not worry if you cannot make this date as further public and stakeholder engagement will be carried out over the coming months.
