Introduction

Kempley Parish Council holds meetings in the months of January, March, May, July, September and November, usually on the second Thursday of the month. The meetings are held in the village hall at 7:30pm. We welcome members from the parish to attend and the Council is happy to hear comments at the appropriate time on the agenda. 

 

The role of the Parish Clerk is to organise meetings, give guidance on legislation and legal issues and to carry out the decisions made by the Council. The Clerk is an employee of the Council. Councillors are elected every four years.

 

The Council is funded by the precept which is collected by Forest of Dean District Council via council tax.

 

The role of the Parish Council is to improve the quality of community life for the parish and it can:

 

 

Give views, on behalf of the community, on planning applications and other proposals that affect the parish. 

 

Undertake projects and schemes that benefit local residents. 

 

Work in partnership with other bodies to achieve benefits for the parish.

 

Alert relevant authorities to problems that arise or work that need to be undertaken, e.g. potholes, overhanging trees etc. 

 

Help the other tiers of local government keep in touch with their local communities.
